Bandwidth Stealing
We do not engage in nor promotes bandwidth stealing. Images on this website are either stored at locations owned by/paid for us site OR are externally located images where permission has been given by the owner of the website where the images are stored to link to them.
Pop-up Adverts
This site does not contain any pop-up adverts and most certainly does not endorse such intrusive activity. If, while visiting this website, your web browser produces any pop-up adverts they will most likely be the result of websites any visitor to this website may have previously visited or 3rd party, typically free, software previously installed on the visitors computer.
External Links to Other Websites
This site, on occasion, may link to other websites when it is felt that this may be of use, relevance or help to any matter either being discussed or illustrated and will typically be links to either heritage railway sites or sites that are sources of information concerning heritage railways. We can not be responsible for the availability of these sites nor the accuracy of any content contained within these sites. Neither do we endorse in any way any information contained within these sites nor any products or services that may be offered by these websites.
To aid visitors to this site in determining which links are to external sites and which are internal, we have the following policy:-
Any page that has a large number of external links will advise of this at the top of the page. Also, any page that may contain isolated external links will advise of this just after any external links contained in the page.
To further aid visitors in determining which pages are internal to this site and which are external, this site will load all internal links in the same browser tab/window as is currently being viewed. All external links will be loaded in a new tab or browser window depending on which browser the visitor is viewing this site with and the settings they have for that browser.
Privacy
We recognises the need to handle any personal data of visitors to this website responsibly. To that end, we collect no personal data from any visitor to the site in any form nor installs any method of personal data collection on any visitor's computer, i.e., cookies.
The only exception to this is the website's forum which requires that anyone wishing to join and post messages supply a valid e-mail address, password of their choice and username of their choice. While the username is publicly listed, all other information provided by anyone joining the forum is stored in an encrypted database accessible only by the forum's administrator. All forum member's passwords are fully encrypted and are not accessible to anyone including the forum administrator thereby ensuring the maximum security and privacy possible.
Personal information about a user can be publicly displayed but only if the user concerned chooses to do so. This does include a user's e-mail address and we would recommend that any forum member only make their e-mail address publicly available on the forum if they have no objection to receiving e-mail from other forum members. The default setting when registering as a member is to not display the member's e-mail address publicly.
The forum has the facility to allow automatic login. This feature does require the storing of a cookie on the member concerned's computer but the cookie contains login information for the forum only and contains no personal data collection in any form. Use of this feature is down to the member concerned should anyone have any concerns and any forum user can choose to login manually should they so wish. The default setting is to login manually.
As mentioned above, members of the forum are required to supply a valid e-mail address when they register. In accordance with this site's privacy policy, no e-mail address supplied to us will be passed on to any 3rd party under any circumstance. The only use that we will make of any e-mail address supplied to this site is to notify a forum member of a reply to a thread they have participated in, to notify of a private message from another forum member or to notify forum members of any site news or updates. Any forum member wishing to not receive such e-mails has the option to opt out should they so wish.
Accessibility
We have designed this website with maximum accessibility in mind, both in terms of ensuring accessibility for visitors to the site who may have impairments that would ordinarily prevent full access to a website and in ensuring the maximum possible cross-browser and cross-platform support.
To aid this, we have taken every effort to check the appearance and performance of this site with as many browsers as is possible before uploading any page to the site. We have also validated every page on this site using the World Wide Web Consortium's online Quality Assurance Markup Validation Service - note: this is an external link and will open in a new tab or browser window - and displays the W3C's logo to reflect this, where appropriate.
Should any visitor have any accessibility issues they can contact us by using the "E-mail The Site " link on any page on this site. Also, should any visitor have any concerns about the validity of the HTML or CSS code on any page on this site, they can click on either of the W3C logos at the bottom of any page they are concerned about which will take the visitor to the aforementioned W3C online validator and will perform an immediate check of the HTML or CSS code of the page concerned. Should any page subsequently fail either of these checks, any visitor can use the "E-mail The Site " link on any page on this site to highlight the issue to us.
Any issues highlighted to us will be investigated
fully and any changes necessary to improve the accessibility of this
site will be implemented fully.
